Quarantine Days 11 and 12:

2010 Pierre Gonon St. Joseph Syrah

Initially, green olives with plummy red fruit, exactly as expected. What was unexpected was the failure to persist and get fuller in the glass--it went the other way, turned hollow. Did I miss the window?

1992 Woodward Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon Dedication Series Columbia Valley
One of the jewels of Washington wine that (typically) age quite well. Some older versions of this reach an ethereal state of immortality, like the '89 and '87, which I still own, but after several '92s I can opine that this won't be one. Plummy and soft, no tannins with just sufficient acidity to pair well with roast beef. Enjoyed it a lot but these have nowhere to go from here but out. Drink up.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
