WTN: Donnhoff...Auslese Goldkapsel 2006

Lockdown wine #3. Dönnhoff Schloßböckelheimer Kupfergrube Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel 2006

Sweet, but with Korean takeout, not bad at all. I mean, if the French can drink Sauternes with oysters...

Yellow gold, oily texture. Peaches, mango, candied pineapple. It helps that the acidity is pretty high. Impressive.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

So 2006 was a crazy ripe year with tons of botrytis. That wine is actually a fairly solid beerenauslese, so your Sauternes analogy makes a lot of sense.
