2015 Enfield Wine Co. Syrah Haynes Vineyard Coombsville
If I'd read others' notes first I would not have opened this bottle yet, but I didn't and the good news is we didn't kill a baby. After a monitored decant of about an hour, everything knit together in a beautiful way that wasn't purely classic or Rhonish, but awesome for what's possible in California. Fruit was dark cherry and plum with a dash of herbs, and notably there was an unusual and very appealing overlay of dustiness more reminiscent of Cabernet than Syrah. Excellent!

Glad you enjoyed it. Syrah is John’s best wine to my tastes, though his Cabernet is getting close.

I was very impressed. Unfortunately, it was our one and only bottle.
