Vegas Wine Shops?

by Ryan D » Fri Feb 09, 2007 3:53 pm

Hey folks,

I'm going to Vegas in two week and want to know if you all have any recommendations on wine shops, wine bars or even restaurants that happen to have a nice wine list [or even simply good waiters who know what they're talking about and can pair well].

Was looking around online and saw 55 Degrees at Mandalay Place [anyone ever been?] so I will probably stop there.

I don't intend to drop hundreds on wine and meals but I would like to at least go somewhere I can have a nice glass of wine, and maybe buy a bottle if I don't lose my shirt.

Thanks for you insight!
I can certainly see that you know your wine. Most of the guests who stay here wouldn't know the difference between Bordeaux and Claret.

Ryan, I don't know about any wine shops but if you get the chance, get over to the RIO Hotel/Casino and take a look at their Chateau d'Yquem collection. (I'm 95% sure it was the RIO - but maybe you should call first. (Maybe the sell wine there as well but you'll pay a premium.)

Figured I'd post an update to this. I did make it over to 55 Degrees, the upscale wine bar in Mandalay Bay. However, we didn't taste anything. They had a tasting menu but the prices were outrageous, like $15 for 2 oz.

So passed. No wine news unfortunately since I was drinking beer most of the time, heh.
