Tried these two w/ Susan over the weekend:
1. Peay Chard Estate SonomaCoast (13.9%; www.PeayVineyards.com) Annapolis 2007: Med.dark gold color; strong nutty/oldChard rather toasty/caramel/Fr.oak slight melony/lemony/Chard some complex nose; fairly tart/tangy rather nutty/oldChard strong caramel/toasty/oak some lemony/melony/Chard bit earthy complex flavor; very long rather nutty/old Chard strong toasty/caramel/Fr.oak finish; lots of oldChard/nutty character but not particularly oxidized nor tired; still offers up some interesting pleasure.

WindGap Syrah GriffinsLair/SonomaCoast (14.6%; #2169; www.WindGapWines.com) Forestville 2007: Dark color w/ slight bricking; strong w-c/Rhonish/smokey some c-c/black pepper some blackberry/Syrah/spicy fairly complex/Rhonish nose; quite tart/tangy bit drying out/tannic strong w-c/smokey/Rhonish slight c-c/black pepper/black olive tapenade light Syrah/blackberry complex flavor w/ some tangy/dried-out tannins; very long tart/tangy/drying out strong w-c/Rhonish slight blackberry/Syrah/spicy finish w/ light drying tannins; a beautiful Rhonish nose but starting to dry out on the palate; a bit beyond its peak but still offers up some pleasure.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Both of these wines, whilst not totally shot, were a bit further along than I expected. Interesting to try but not a lot of hedonistic pleasure to them.
