Doug brought this as a mystery wine Wed night, about as an obscure a wine as you can find. He had recently picked it up on a ski trip to Suisse:
1. St.Jodern Kellerei Heida Visperterminen AOC: Wallis (14.6%; http://www.JodernKellerei.Ch) Hochsten Weinberg Europas/Visperterminen 2018: Light gold color; strong appley slight toasty/oak rather Alpine white flowers/edelweiss bit spicy/Traminer slight perfumed talc very interesting quite attractive perfumed nose; quite tart/tangy bit metallic/lean very spicy/Alpine flowers/edelweiss bit mineral/chalky/stony rather complex flavor; very long/lingering bit spicy/Traminer rather Alpine flowers/edelweiss/appley bit stony/mineral lovely finish; reminds a bit of Sudtirol Traminer but not as earthy and much more high-toned floral notes; quite a lovely & interesting wine.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Heida is the name they use in the Valais of Suisse. It is, by DNA, the same grape that is known in the Jura as SavigninBlanc, where it is often used to make Vin Jaune. It is also the same grape as Traminer, which originated near the town of Tramin in the Sudtirol. There are some suggestions that some clonal differences developed in the grape as it migrated from Tramin across the Alps into Jura and the Valais.
The grapes came from a vnyd in the Upper Valais that is reportedly the highest vnyd in Europe. Very definitely an Alpine character to this wine.
