WTN: Tignanello 2013

Crazy high scores from the Usual Critics for the Tignanello 2013. Decided to see what all the fuss was about so I opened up a half-bottle.

Inky and impenetrable when poured, Left it in the glass for about an hour to air.

Very nice after an hour in the glass. Exotic spice box aromas - anise, cardamom, nutmeg, clove, roasted meat, blackberry, currants. On the palate, roasted meat, currants, and blackberry again, but no spice. Quite a bit of acidity. Not dense but flavors aren't too generous. Dry, savoury. Long finish. Tannic Needs time to open up. Decant for maybe 3 to 4 hours if you must drink now, or better leave alone for the next 5 years or so.

Good wine now with lots of potential, but not really convinced about the scores of 94 and above. I did pour off about 200ml into a small bottle and will give that a try after 3 days or so and see how it's coming along.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Thanks for the early peek. 2013s seem strong across the board in the area.

still have several bottles of this nectar in the cellar..The previous bottles all opened up pretty quickly with lovely aromatics..flavors were gorgeous and neither acidity nor tannins were prominent..Wonder if it has gone into hibernation for a while??.
