I studiously avoid Jackson Family Wines, but nonetheless have not found there to be much meddling with the brands he acquires post-acquisition. And I always had affection for Gary Farrell's wines, so bought a few of the zins awhile back. Opened the 2015 Gary Farrell Grist Vineyard Zinfandel last night. Had no prior experience with the vineyard, and while it was the claret-style I prefer the wine overall was lighter bodied and more acidic than anticipated based on vintage, and the American oak dominates. Hopefully, it's just napping.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
