Decision day at the USTR - 100% tariffs or no

by David M. Bueker » Fri Feb 14, 2020 9:28 am

February 15 is the decision day when the US Trade Representative (USTR) decides if he's going to destroy European wine in the US, and with it thousands upon thousands of jobs.

Currently it's "just" 25% on French, Spanish, German (and UK...ha!) wines under 14% alcohol. That's already causing empty shelves, and some layoffs at importers and distributors.100% would doom many businesses.

The news will be posted on the USTR site. https://ustr.gov/

I know it's simplistic, but in a lot of ways Trump's a simple guy. I can just hear him thinking, "If they can't buy French wine, they'll buy Trump wine!"
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

And then they'll drink Trump wine, and vote for Bernie!

Yes. The sword of Damocles is now 117 days from falling.

The review is re-done every 120 days.

Of course a ruling against Boeing by the WTO in May could upend everything.
