I've been drinking wine since b4 Roman times,* but only in the last few year have I tried to develop a vocabulary of tasting notes. When I notice an interesting taste I look for my term in the vino vocab. I'm not often successful, but sometimes I find aligning terms, por ejemplo, I tasted 'cumin' in some cabs and realized others called it 'cedarwood.' That I could relate to. What I taste as 'licorice' I believe others describe as vanilla. Currently I'm drinking a 'Primitivo' Pillastro puglia 2016 and the first notable taste is something I've noticed only occasionally in red wines and tried 'jammy,' Nope! Not according to that description. To me it is obviously the taste/smell of concord grapes. I occasionally buy them in season and love them. Someone help me out here. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and can give me the 'correct' tasting term? And please hurry because I'm probably losing more tasting cells than I'm replacing. That goes for brain cellls as well. Although hope springs eternal, I have never tasted 'pencil shavings.' And I've never tasted blueberries in Harrar coffee (I've roasted).
* In my case I go back to Mateus rose and Almaden burgundy
