With salmon, roast mushrooms, and cauliflower, the 2005 Lafarge Bourgogne. Still structured but drinking well, full black cherry fruit accented with blood orange and smoke. Nice showing for a 15 year old Bourgogne, and a good tribute to Michel Lafarge who passed away this week. B+

Saturday was my first dinner with Betsy of 2020! Littlenecks on the half shell, boeuf bourguignon on egg noodles, bok choy, and salad. Cooking wine was combination of leftover Lafarge Bourgogne and the 2002 de Montille Bourgogne. Plum and cherry fruit with leather and earth, mature but not tired, but not too complex. But nice longevity for a Bourgogne. B

Dinner wine was the 2002 Lafarge Volnay. Ready, red fruit and coffee with some floral notes, delicious. B+

Last night got the hound and trooped over hill to friends’ for dinner. Greeted us with nuts, stuffed peppers, etc

NV Franco Nero Rustico Prosecco
Good for $14 bubbly, hint of sweetness, good crispness, tangy. B/B-

I had brought a scallop ceviche
2017 Picq Dessus la Carriere Chablis
Saline, sweet fruit, seashell, stones. Good showing for level. B+

They had made a pre-lunar new year feast, shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, mapo tofu (vegetarian version), bok choy, rice.

2009 Puy Guilhelm (Fronsac)
Some slightly tacky tannin, ripe black plum fruit, lower acids, not so long. A bit disappointing. C+/B-

Good to see old friends

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
