WTN: A haughty spirit before a Falmet

by David M. Bueker » Tue Jan 14, 2020 8:37 am

2012 Nathalie Falmet Champagne "Cuvee ZH 318" Le Val Cornet - France, Champagne (1/13/2020)
First time having any Champagne from this producer, and I really do not know what to make of it. I like the dry style, and the wine is quite full bodied and "wine-y." What I don't get is much fruit or even early yeastiness. It's all deep, liquor-ish and somber. Not much joy in this bottle. Provenance and storage were excellent, so perhaps it's what the producer was going for, but I just don't get it.
