WTN: PierreSparr Riesling Schoenenbourg '15...(short/boring)

Tried this w/ Susan this weekend:
1. PierreSparr Riesling Schoenenbourg GrandCru AC: Alsace GrandCru (13%; Unoaked; www.Vins-Sparr.com; Wilson-Daniels) PierreSparr/Beblemheim 2015: Med.dark gold color; beautiful floral/mango/R strong Mosel valve oil/petrol/pungent fairly complex very perfumed nose; quite tart/tangy fairly rich/lush maybe off-dry (0.5% r.s.?) quite floral/mango/R strong Mosel valve oil/petrol slight chalky/mineral/steely some complex flavor; very long/lingering fairly tart/metallic strong R/floral/mango rather rich/lush/slightly off-dry some patrol/Mosel valve oil finish; a lovely big/rich Alsace R that will go out another 10-15 yrs; beautiful R. $69.00/$30.00 (SFW&S)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Found this at Susan's FW&S this weekend. Originally priced at $69, but marked way down by the distributor. I liked this R quite a lot, though it seemed a slightly off-dry and maybe a bit too close to the Z-H paradigm to my taste.

Wow, talk about price inflation! I bought some of this at our expensive Ontario provincial liquor monopoly in October 2018 for $26CDN, about $20US. It's currently 14.95€, $16.65US on the Sparr website.

I saw Sparr - short/boring in subject line and just nodded.
This sounds better than that.
Sparr to me is the cheap Alsace on BTG lists when they don't have Hugel, much less Trimbach. But limited experience with anything beyond their base Riesling and Gewurz.

That is one wildly overpriced bottle!

While they are not Trimbach I've always liked the wines for the price from Pierre Sparr.

I haven't had the 15 of this wine, but have had the '13 a few times and it always drank off-dry too, even though it was less than 1% RS...

Acidity is an endangered species in Alsace.
