With a small Flannery steak, with leftover dal, saag aloo, rice, the 2007 Mugnier “Clos de la Maréchale”Nuits St. Georges 1er . I saw this when looking for something else and remembered a note saying it was getting a little tired. Well, not this bottle. Bright acids, light tannin, crunchy red fruits. Soil and cedar, some peppery spice. Drinking pretty well but I am in no hurry with these. B+/A-

Betsy came home, we had grey sole, spinach, and the 2012 Jadot “Morgeot -Clos de la Chapelle - Duc de Magenta” Chassagne-Montrachet 1er. Plush but with good acids, vanillin oak still standing out a lot, actually better on day 2. This needs time, but with Jadot’s premox record that’s risky. B/B- for now

An outdoor Nikolaus party Sunday, I skipped the mulled wine , tried

2011 Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino
Ripe black blum, vanilla oak, anonymous. B-

2010 McManis Pinot Noir
Dry cork broke. Thin, hot, presumably cooked wine underneath. D for this bottle

There was an Argentine wine called something Roca , but forgot to note name and vintage. Ripe, plush, with some structure, I assume Malbec, B.

Home where Betsy made tuna in a spicy caper/olive/tomato sauce, with the 2016 Occhipinti Il Frappato. Darker color than I expected, but flavor profile was lovely- raspberry and cranberry, zippy acids, some tannin but not intrusive. A little leafy note on the long finish. minerally/tangy. B+/A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

I wonder who said the Mugnier was getting “tired”, as well as what kind of provenance the bottle had.
