WTN: Succession

No, not the TV show, the relatively new Washington winery on Lake Chelan:

2018 Succession Wines L & R Lake Chelan White Blend
Another solid wine from Succession. Shows a tad fruitier now than it did at the winery last June but no less minerally, attractive and delightfully atypical for (mostly) sauv blanc from this state.

2018 Succession Wines Viognier Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley
Generous, concentrated fruit sans that dead-old-lady perfume that taints so many new world viogniers, and good structure. Admirably shows what the Lake Chelan area is capable of and why Succession is a winery to follow.

What’s the climate like in that area?

p.s. I got my first offer from Reynvaan. Grabbed three bottles of the In the Rocks Syrah.

It's different from anywhere else in the state. Hot days in the summer but always cool nights. That difference allows for wickedly long hang times--they usually pick in late October. Wines gain complexity without building up ripeness and the resulting alcohol. Pinot is doing very well there, as you'd expect, where most of WA is too hot for it.
