2008 Rhys Syrah Skyline Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (11/22/2019)
As with most Rhys wines from the pre-2012 era, this is only slowly inching its way towards maturity. It’s certainly more interesting than it was four or five years ago, as the richness of the fruit has backed off, exposing more meat and olive complexity. The balance feels right, with the bones of the wine not obvious, and also not obviously missing. The wine is held in its proper shape. We drank this over the course of two hours, and it opened up a good bit over that time. I will be patient with my last bottle.

2008 Alpine is standing up in the cellar. Will get to it between now and the new year...I hope.
