2015 Enfield Wine Co. 'All the Pretty Horses' Tempranillo
After all the kudos I've read, and certainly because of them, I expected more from my first bottle of Enfield wine. Blind, I'd have never guessed the grape; it had much lighter body than expected based on the same grape from Spain and Washington state (where it's gaining popularity), and it lacked the spice and overall character I've experienced in both. Too, rather than evolving into something more interesting, the fruit faded over the two hours it took us to finish the bottle; this doesn't have a future.

Sounds damaged.

(Though John does not seem to be making single vineyard Tempranillo anymore, so perhaps he gave up on the young vines fruit source.)

I know he's still getting Tempranillo from Shake Ridge (Graciano, too).
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...

I still have a 2015. Need to locate it and check it out!

There were no off flavors, just less flavor--like a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10, and the tannins crept up on the second glass. Your average $15 Cotes du Rhone would have been more interesting.
