Spanish/Portugese white wine ??

by Jim Grow » Fri Nov 08, 2019 5:18 pm

I have just read in The SOMM Journal that Spain and Portugal produce some ("fabulous") Gewurztraminer in two regions Spain....Somontano and Portugal....Alentejo. As a lover of this varietal I see on wine-searcher that no producers (like Bestue, Lalanne and Sommos are exported to the U.S. Anyone have any experience with Gewurztraminer from these regions and are they really "fabulous". I guess the vineyards are at high elevations near the Pyrenees.

Several years ago, when my daughter was in Spain, she brought me back some Albarino and also a bottle of Gewurtztraminer..who knew? Came as a surprise to me..in any event, it was quite good..Consumed several yrs ago, I posted on another board about the wines, don't remember the winery's name but, yes they make nice Gewurtz in Spain.
