2000 Domaine Weinbach Riesling Schlossberg - France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru (11/5/2019)
I did not realize that I still had one bottle of this in the cellar. I thought it was ready to go nine years ago, but this bottle had all the fireworks. It's steely, with a little edge rust from age. Not much in the way of fruit, it's dominated by developed tones such as honey, spices and dried leaves. There's great persistence to the flavors, and the steely feeling runs all the way through the finish. I would recommend drinking up, despite the wine surprising me this time. Of course the wine always has the last word.
