The California fires

by Robin Garr » Wed Oct 30, 2019 11:53 am

It's really getting awful out there. Sending wishes for safety to all our California pals, in the wine country and Los Angeles.

A new fire is rapidly expanding in Southern California in what the National Weather Service calls one of the most dangerous Santa Ana wind events “in recent memory,” with humidity plunging into the single digits. The newly kindled Easy Fire, which threatens the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, grew to 407 acres in about two hours on Wednesday morning, and any more blazes that ignite are likely to exhibit “extreme behavior,” the Weather Service warned.

The good news is that they've cancelled all the evacuations in Sonoma County as of about 2:15 this afternoon, except for those people who live in the active burn area. PG&E's progress in restoring power is, of course, glacial.
