Kincade fire

by John Treder » Sat Oct 26, 2019 6:00 pm

The Kincade fire has caused Geyserville, Healdsburg and Windsor to be evacuated. It has crossed Hwy 128 in the Alexander Valley.
Most of the grape harvest is in, just some late cab and petit verdot left, I think. I haven't heard of any wineries burned down, though the private home of one of the Jackson family did burn down.
So far, I haven't been notified of a power shutoff, let alone got an evacuation notice. However, I'm 20 miles away in downtown Santa Rosa.
It's an uncomfortable feeling.

My brother lives in Oakland/San Leandro at the top of a hillside that looks down on San Francisco but backs up to what on the other side is apparently Castro Valley. They've already lost power and are packing to evacuate.

Got my fingers crossed for all of you.

I'm still not in an officially threatened area, but I'll do a go-bag before I go to bed tonight.

Dry Creek Valley, and the Larkfield-Wikiup area north of Santa Rosa that burned in the Tubbs fire 2 years ago, have been added to the evac list as of about 7 PM.
