WTN: Las' Call

2000 Château Lascombes Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend
Fourth bottle opened of six purchased over a decade ago, and each has been a major disappointment. No fruit, parched tannins, astringent finish--every damned one of them. Other reports on CT indicate I'm not alone in this finding (I believe our Dale W sounded the first alarm I saw), yet some people have had good bottles. But after four baddies it's probably safe to presume mine came from a bad lot and the 'to do' at this point is get them out of the cellar, get them off my inventory, and feed them to the rhododendrons.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

The "good" bottles of 2000 Lascombes are likely from people who happen to appreciate the over-extracted, over-wooded style of modern Lascombes. I bet a "good" bottle would still disappoint you.

Yes, modern Lascombes can be depressing. Of course, not sure I've ever had a great Lascombes from any era ('61 was pretty good). I have a '59 in the Betsy Bday collection, we'll see.

Probably true, dat. But one of the good recent reviews was by a very capable reviewer called ZWEDER, who clearly had a good bottle even if stylistically it wasn't in his lane.
