Roast chicken with root vegetables (sweet potato, carrot, radish) and farro with chard
2002 Chevlllon “Les Chaignots” Nuits St George
Tangy black raspberry, citrus zest, grilled meat. Full and fleshy but with tangy acids. Fun! B+/A-

Friday was grilled salmon, sauteed spinach, and rice
2017 JP Brun/Terres Dorees “L’Ancien” Beaujolais
Fuller and riper than I expected, but still a lovely red fruited bottle. Cherry, raspberry, smoke, and a little dilly herb. B/B+

Sunday night we had some friends over, started with pork rillettes and the NV Pierre Peters
“Cuvee de Reserve” Blanc des Blancs Champagne
(2011 base, 7/2015 disgorgement). Another tasty PP 2011 base that surpasses vintage rep, Bright, green apples and citrus, snappy acids, elegant. B+/B

First course was squid and red pepper stew , with the 2018 Pomponette Rose (Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence). Correct, dry, but not super interesting, but worked well with the dish, B-

Then chimichurri chicken, salad, couscous with sauteed tomatoes
2013 Bedrock Evangelho Vineyard Heritage
A Zin based field blend. Red, ripe, touch of spice, less interesting than I hoped. B-

1985 Pichon-Lalande (375)
A friend had done a big PLL vertical the day before to benefit my group and another charity, I opened this to toast him. Lovely, elegant, long. Lively fruit, cigarbox, earth. Ready to go in this format. Nice! A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
