WTN: Rubbing Soave in my Wounds

by Jenise » Sun Sep 08, 2019 3:29 pm

At a local Italian restaurant last night:

2017 Monte Zovo Soave
Very different from any other Soave I've ever had but nonetheless enjoyable. Very pale with a hint of green and the unmistakable stemmy notes of (I'm presuming) whole cluster fermentation. Seems unoaked with soft flavors of honeydew melon and raw peas. Very refreshing, but absurdly overpriced at $47ish. Sells for $12.99 at the most expensive wine store in town.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Wow, that's quite a margin for a $13 retail wine...

It's got to be an error. They have the Monte Zovo amarone on their list at $53, and that's only 1.3 times retail.
