1999 Chateau Soutard St. Emilion
Tasted it and loved it at the winery in St. Emilion, bought a bottle. This one wasn't anything like the one I had at the winery. A slightly stinky nose and unattractive on the palate. OTH, but probably a victim of something else too.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Too bad.

I have some 1989 Soutard. Will report back (or may serve it to you blind some time).

Would enjoy that!

Btw, I poured Bob blind on this. He sniffed and in spite of the off odors in the nose picked up on the high quantity of Merlot. Then he went to France and selected St. Emilion over Pomerol. Picked up on the right three year year span for vintage too. I'm often impressed by how well he does this at home, but when he gets in a group he freezes.

When he gets in a group he gets quiet. I try to encourage him to jump in with both feet and make a fool of himself like we do!

I read that Château Soutard now incorporates grapes from 7 hectares of the former Château Cadet-Piola. RVF's reviewers claim that this leads to greater tension in the wine. I believe that Cadet-Piola no longer exists.
