Hirsch 2015 Kamptal Riesling, Zöbinger Heiligenstein, 1e Lage. This has an irresistible interplay of rich stone fruit, minerality, and a bit of astringent fruit skin; the combination turns flowery with a mild sheep's cheese but otherwise is dominated by the push and pull between fruit and chalk. Medium body, good structure, a lot of depth, and, I think, plenty of material for development. Excellent.

As I said in an earlier thread by David I used to buy Hirsch a lot, but don't seem to see at stores I frequent recently.
I do see the entry level GV at CSW, will try to include in next order.
And a store in Ithaca has several, I guess I could ask my BIL to grab some (he teaches at Ithaca College)

Yes, that's where I got this one, as part of a mixed case of Hirsch Riesling and GV. Now I just need to not drink it all before spring, when, with any luck, knock on wood and pray to the gods of construction, I'll be able to move wine from Chicago...

Drink the 2015s. The 2017s are the wines to age.

Only 17s they had were GV, not Riesling, so I have 3 ea of the 2015 and 2016 Heiligenstein Rieslings (and some 17 Grüner from Kammern and... err... I forget. Anyhow, I didn't think the 15 was so lush-ripe that it wouldn't do interesting things with more time. We'll see.
cheers, Patchen
