After Friday’s epic pig lunch, I should have just skipped dinner, but grilled a small piece of swordfish and some squash. Wine was the 2018 Triennes rose. Very pale, very light, crisp with strawberry and raspberry fruit, but not really fruit-driven. B

Saturday I had a few friends over, we started with pate, headcheese, and smoked bluefish , followed by grilled squid with shiso. Then steak, elotes, panzanella, goat cheese stuffed peppers

2018 Hippolyte Reverdy Sancerre
Crisp, bright, with citrus and Granny Smith, just a hint of mowed grass, tangy mineral finish. B+

1985 Certan de May
Firing on all cylinders, black plum and cassis, mocha, leather. Long earthy finish. Plush but with a backbone. A-

Sunday was a big day (annual picnic for homeless) and I came home with only energy fot leftovers (which was fine). As was the 2008 Drouhin Cote de Beaune -red and black cherry, freshly turned soil, just a hint of coffee and spice. Good acids, hint of tannin, good length. Not super complex but lovely and a pointe. B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
