WTN 1985 Quinta do Noval Nacional

This is as close to a perfect mature vintage Port as I've ever experienced. The color is deep, translucent ruby. The exuberant aroma is a complex mixture of dark, smoky fruits, with no alcoholic hotness and none of the acetone character one sometimes finds in Port (Grahams in particular). The flavors follow the aromas, and are a perfect balance of fruit, sweetness, and alcohol. Power AND finesse. The finish seems to go on forever. There are no rough edges here--everything is in synergy. I suspect this wine is just hitting its stride and will provide pleasure for decades to come.

Triple Curly with an extra woo-woo-woo.
