WTN: Red, Red Wine

by David M. Bueker » Thu Aug 15, 2019 7:58 am

2011 Matthiasson Red Wine - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/14/2019)
I have had several bottles of this over the last few years, and it always impresses. It's not a big wine. It's balanced, red fruit focused, a little bit earthy, and with enough tannic spine to keep things together. Medium-bodied, and consistently fresh/energizing, it also has a long, warm herb infused finish. It's delicious, and fun to drink.

Sounds like my kind of wine. I'm increasingly drawn to lighter, more herb-infused wines. This one sounds Bojo-like.

It’s not Bojo-like, but it is lighter styled in the genre of Napa Bordeaux blends.

I get it. One wouldn't have to taste like Bojo to, to me, had a lighter weight and upfront freshness plus savory qualities that struck me as similar.
