WTN: COS Rami TerreSiciliane Bianco '15...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Fri Jul 26, 2019 12:20 pm

Tried this last night at BacchusBadBoys:
1. COS Rami IGP: Terre Siciliane (12%; 50% Insolia/Grecanico ) COS di Giambattista Cilia e Giusto Occhipinti/
Vittoria 2015
: Rather golden/burnished bronze some cloudy color; very strong phenolic/resiny/skin contact rather orangey/orange marmalade/honeyed quite complex very interesting nose; quite tart/tannic/austere/totally dry quite rich strong phenolic/resiny/skin contact little fruit some orangey/honeyed quite savory complex flavor w/ light astringent tannins; very long/lingering very strong phenolic/resiny some honeyed/orange marmalade very austere quite complex finish w/ ample astringent tannins; badly needs both age and food to accompany; not very pleasant to taste on its own; a very good skin-contact white w/ the phenolics totally obliterating any fruit. $30.00 (Prima)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. COS is a joint effort by Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti, and Pinuccia Strano; focusing on the indigenous grapes of Sicily. This is a skin-contact white made from 12-yr old vines and fermtd in concrete vats w/ 15 days of skin contact...all the natural wine touchstone points. It was originally marketed as Ramidagallo from a nearby Sicilian village, but the name was shortened to just Rami to appease the Gallo law force.
