by TomHill » Wed Jul 03, 2019 11:43 am

Had these two w/ dinner last night:
1. Chester'sAnvil GretnaGreen (14.2%; Roussanne/Marsanne; www.LagierMeredith.com; 204 cs) 2010: Med.dark gold color; very fragrant floral/honeysuckle/honeyed/Rouss slight apple/pear very lush light pencily/oak slight nutty lovely Rhone white nose; lightly tart/tangy very rich/lush honeysuckle/honeyed/Rouss light pear/floral/Viog-like light pencilly/oak slight herbal/appley bit nutty somewhat complex flavor; very long/lingering somewhat honeyed/honeysuckle/Rouss bit nutty/oxidative light pencilly/oak some complex finish; starting to show some nutty/oxidative character of an old Marsanne; may go another 5-7 yrs yet; quite an interesting mature white Rhone blend. $30.00

: Med.red color w/ slight bricking; rather earthy/dusty/loamy light strawberry/Gamay slight peppery light toasty/oak/smokey quite Bojo GC-like some complex nose; lightly tart slight smokey/toasty/oak fairly earthy/dusty/loamy bit rustic slight strawberry/Gamay bit complex flavor w/ light gentle tannins; very long rather earthy/dusty/loamy bit strawberry/Gamay light pencilly/oak finish w/ light smooth tannins; quite a godd resemblance to a 10 yr old Bojo GrandCru; should be drunk up. $15.00 (K&L)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The GretnaGreen was a wine made w/ AaronPotts. I believe the grapes came from the Krupp's StageCoach vnyd. It has evolved much better than I expected it to.
______________
2. Never had any PaulMathew wines before. He seems to specialize in PinotNoir.

Like the sound of that gamay; I've had very few American gamays that I would compare to a Bojo grand cru.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
