I have rarely tasted (or maybe never) a RMP 100 pt. wine but this wine may someday qualify. 2016 Janesse V.V. Chateauneuf du Pape was oh so young but oh so awesome. The nose seemed a bit muted on opening as I just p-n-p it but it certainly blossomed over the hour we spent with dinner. The palate eventually showed licorice, earth, sweet cherry, fresh leather and some herbs of something or other. The intensity was much higher than the Chaupin I opened a few weeks ago. This wine had a port-like quality, based on its depth of flavors but little volitality. I find this wine a bit difficult to fully describe as there is so much going on here. Very glad I have 5 more bottles but will try to wait 2-3 years until the next bottle or open the next one 24 hrs. before consuming. Certainly as complex and amazing as a 1989 Beaucastel I went thru 1/2 cast of by 2002.
