Wednesday was supposed to be the first of our little village’s summer jazz concerts, but Tues night I looked at forecast (80% chance of thunderstorm) and it looked like it would be changed to indoor venue, which I usually skip. So Wednesday I prepped a chicken (berbere ) and root vegetables. Then at 5 PM realized that though cool and cloudy, now no rain till 9, and concert at park was a go. A quick trip for charcuterie, cheese, and baguette while chicken roasted, and we headed to river at 6:30. Cool, a little mist, and a lot smaller crowd than usual, but we had a good time, and liked all the wines
2016 Roty Marsannay Rose
(current release) Strawberry and smoke, zippy, full, plenty of life. B+
2010 Trimbach Riesling (yellow label)
Peach and grapefruit , a little ginger and petrol. Fresh and fun. B+/B
2015 Withers “Peters Vineyard” Chardonnay
Pear and hazelnut, citrus zest, good acids. There is to me a little oak note though pretty sure this doesn’t see any new oak at all. Nicely balanced. B
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
