2014 William Selyem Russian River Pinot Noir
Very dark color, big aromatics, bing cherry and black plum fruit, a touch of boysenberry tang, good RR spice, silky mouthfeel. For me, pure CA pinot heaven. But a concern: seemed to fade, or at least slip into more of a tertiary phase, just at the the two-hour mark it took two of us to drink it.

Any structure? I am always searching for any hint of structure in California Pinot Noir.

Enough to make me happy. It wasn't flabby or 'soft'--not a fan of soft.

But would it have tasted better if it had been labeled "North Coast"?

No, but would have been harder to turn North Coast into a catchy title. :)

Reminds me of my favorite headline from The Economist during the Iran-Contra hearings, when everyone was dazzled by Ollie’s rugged good looks and gleaming smile:

“But Is Magnetic North True North?”
