WTN: Pegau,Decesse,Pichon B.,Montalena and others

Went to a wine tasting dinner a few weeks ago and consumed the following in Athens Ohio:

2010 Veuve Doussot "Cuvee Ernestine" white fruit, tiny persistent bead, not complex (mine)

2003 Souverain Sonoma Cabernet, nice fruit but slightly corked (Matt)

2005 Vitanza Brunello, light cherry fruit but needs more time (Marty)

2000 Pegau Res., outstanding with smooth tannins but huge future, with classic Pegau fruit (mine)

1992 Ch. Montalena Cabernet, olive note, medium cassis, slight medicinal note with slight tannic finish, I wanted to love this one but it was a little off-putting (Mark)

2000 Pavie Decesse, fabulous/complex with leather, herb and sweet cassis fruit huge future but enjoyable now (mine) WOTN

1993 Pegau Res., similar to 2000 with great fruit and less tannins (Mark)

1999 B. V. Rutherford Cabernet, great fruit light tannins and typical Rutherford dust (Matt)

2001 Pichon Baron, lovely black fruit and tobacco note, not ready but close (mine)

1998 Navarro L.H. Sweet White Riesling, quite sweet but good acidity, no oxidation and dark amber color (Matt)

and recently at home;

2015 Walter Hansel Chardonnay, deep citrus fruit and wonderful minerality

2011 Flora Springs "Trilogy" ; Bordeaux blend, tannins mostly resolved with great black and blue fruit, very fine

2016 Jean Biecher Wiebelsberg Alsace Riesling; some slight apricot fruit, stern backbone of great acidity, needs more time, would not be confused with a German Riesling

A couple of my favorites in there. The Pegau wines from 1998-2001 have been my very favorite CNdP. And of course, Pichon Baron is always so good.
