WTN: Mastroberardino Radici Fiano '15...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Mar 11, 2019 2:28 pm

Tried this Sat night at Susan was winging it to Basel (at least..sitting in Heathrow):
1. Mastroberardino Radici Dd'OCeG: Fiano di Avellino (13.5%; Winebow; www.Mastroberardino.com/en) Atripalda 2015: Light gold color; very strong fragrant floral/Fiano/lemoni/citrusy somewhat stony/chalky/mineral/perfumed talk quite lovely nose; quite tart/tangy/juicy strong floral/Fiano/carnations/citrusy/lemony some stony/mineral/perfumed talc/bit metallic rather saline/savory very attractive flavor; very long quite tart/tangy/mineral/chalky/flinty quite savory/saline light floral/carnations/Fiano finish; a very attractive/interesting thirst-quenching savory/saline white that should go out 10 yrs; then kind of wine that demands another sip until the btl is drained; one of the better non-Calif Fianos I've had. $28.00 (AV)

This implies that most Calif Fiano is superior to that from the region of origin. Credibility???

Awww, Tim....surely you recognize a TomHill troll by now??
There's not a lot of Fiano made in Calif. In terms of enjoyment, I would put the Ryme Fiano right up there
at the top. But it's a quite different rendition of Fiano than this Radici.
