2013 Ramey Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard - USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros (12/24/2018)
Paired with a 2015 Ramey Rochioli Vineyard Chardonnay, this was the broader wine of the pair. It still showed the deft balance of Hyde, but it was richer. Spice and tropical fruit was supported by a crisp apple finish. Delicious Hyde, as usual.
2015 Ramey Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (12/24/2018)
Paired with the 2013 Ramey Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay, this showed a slimmer, lemony style, with the brightness making for a more distinct contrast with the spice from oak aging. Not knowing what to expect from this bottling, I was very pleased, and enjoyed the comparison with the Hyde. Two excellent wines showing different aspects of the same grape.
