WTN: Senorio San Vicente 94

by Jorn Levi » Wed Jan 31, 2007 4:49 pm

A milestone in my 9 years as a wine lover last weekend as I drank the first bottle I ever laid down in my "cellar".

Had it with filet of lamb with garlic, a red wine reduction sauce with challots and thyme(?) Not sure if that is the right english word for that herb, but will have to do.

Deep brilliant red, a little lighter on the edges. On the nose almost explosive with dark berries, ripe fruit, what I can best describe as spices and hints of vanilla(oak) but not at all in an unpleasent way.
On the palate balanced with great length with black fruit, spices and blackcurrent(?) (Another one where I am uncertain about the english term) Very elegant in my opinion.

Had great expectations to this wine. I was not disappointed and I am glad I had it now and did not wait another year. :D
