WTN: Dy-no-mite!

by David M. Bueker » Mon Jun 04, 2018 9:40 pm

2005 Ridge Petite Sirah Dynamite Hill York Creek Vineyards - USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District (6/4/2018)
Tasted over the course of two nights, this started out as a tannic beast, taking the palate by storm and leaving no tastebud unwounded. After a few hours the fruit (blackberry) came out to play, along with savory olive, soy and roasted meat. Ultimately it remained firmly tannins, even on the second night. I would not open another bottle of this for at least ten more years, unless there was a grilled ribeye or lamb chops to tame the tannins.

And here I was expecting a Prüm, a Christoffel, or a Confuron!

Thanks, though: I have four of these and am grateful for the advice.
cheers, Patchen

Whole cluster Petite Sirah yields massively tannic wine. Whooda thunk it?!
