Tried this ystrday w/ John:
1. SaddlebredCllrs PinotNoir IGT: Terre Siciliane (12%) 2015: Med.light color; rather earthy/Italianate/dusty vaguely PN/black cherry loamy/rustic nose; soft/fat rather earthy/loamy/hot-climate/slightly unclean weak PN/black cherry flavor w/ light soft tannins; med.short soft slight tangy/metallic rather loamy/earthy/rustic/coarse/hot-climate slight PN/black cherry finish w/ light mushy tannins; speaks only vaguely of PN; a coarse/rustic skeletal/bare bones expression of hot-climate PN; some like an AltoAdige PN but w/o the acidity; if you want PN from Sicily, buy a Frappato; pretty dull PN w/ no redemming features other than the price. $12.50 (vSR)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Not sure why anyone would grow PN on Sicily. I would characterize this as a fraudulent wine. The label looks exactly like the wines comes from Calif. It's only when you scan way down towards the bottom of the back label do you see in tiny print that it comes from Sicily. When you Google Saddlebred, you get all sorts of hits at where it's available & at what price, but you can't find out anything about an actual cellar in Sicily. My guess is that it's a bulk wine brought in by an importer under a made-up name. Not a bargain at any price.
