1998 Dönnhoff Schloßböckelheimer Kupfergrube Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (3/30/2018)
This is drinking at about as perfect a peak as I could imagine. Mixing peach, cherry, grilled pineapple, vanilla cream and fresh acidity, it carries its surprising richness with grace. When it warms up a bit there is an orange juice element in the mid-palate, and a more zest-like brightness on the finish. Irresistibly drinkable, I think it’s on a fairly long plateau based on the depth of flavor, but I really want to drink my other bottles soon for deliciousness sake.
