Cracked this last night w/ leftover fregola pasta:
1. Bedrock Zin EsolaVnyd/AmadorCnty (14.4%; Tended by DeniseEsola) 2016: Med.color; strong Amador/briary/blackberry/Zin/spicy light toasty/oak slight peppery classic Amador Zin nose; lightly tart very strong Amador briary/blackberry/spicy bit earthy some dusty/OV some toasty/smokey/oak fairly structured/balanced flavor w/ light ripe/smooth tannins; very long strong Amador/briary/light blackberry/spicy Zin balanced some dusty/OV light toasty/oak finish w/ light ripe tannins; speaks strongly of briary Amador Zin but not overripe or alcoholic; reminds a lot of the Ridge Esola in the mid-'70's but w/o the Ridge oak, some of the Turley Amador Zins; a rather nuanced/subtle expression of Amador Zin that will benefit from a few yrs of aging. $35.65

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I have, of course, followed Esola Zin from the very start; back in the early '70's when Ridge and CarnerosCreek sourced Zin from Ernie&John Esola's old-vine vineyard. It's nice to see that Morgan as returned the Esola vnyd to its former days of glory.
