Domaine du Pégau 2000 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée. Our previous bottle of this was corked, so it was nice to find this (our last) in good shape. Laser-sharp black cherry fruit with a mild leather-funky streak and a lot of anise and herbs. Brighter and sharper than I expected. Seems to be in a vibrant middle age at first, but becomes broad and unfocused with air faster than I'd have thought, though it retains some interesting aromatics all the way to the muddy end. If I had more, I'd probably drink up relatively soon.
cheers, Patchen
