2010 Cowan Cellars Pinot Noir - USA, California, Sonoma County, Bennett Valley (11/26/2017)

Remember when Jim Cowan made Pinot Noir?

The 2010 Cowan Cellars Pinot Noir Bennett Valley is classic Jim. It’s lighter than most CA Pinot, but not short on flavor. Red fruit and a touch of mint are supplemented by a haunting earthy note. The wine retains a presence far longer than I would have expected given its overall subtlety. It’s just scrumptious. Bravo Jim!

By happy coincidence, I opened this very same bottle on Friday night with Thanksgiving leftovers. I loved it. Beautifully balanced and complex, definitely lighter than typical California PNs as you note, which was to its benefit as far as I'm concerned. Very distinctive and a spectacular accompaniment to the food.
