Grenache (66 per cent), Shiraz (28) and Mouvédre (6). From the Barossa Valley.
Bright cherry-red in color.
An amazing nose. The sort of wine I just want to smell all night long (and I did). Spicy, cherry cough syrup (which I always associate with Grenache) leafy, menthol and, at one point during the evening, smoked meat.
Tangy acidity, very spicy and peppery, cherry cough syrup, plums and raspberries, strong mint, some veggy notes. A big and gutsy wine. Some heat on the end, possibily due to the 14.5 per cent alcohol.
Screwcap closure.
