Had this the other night in NYC w/ Susan & Eva:
1. XavierGerard AC: Condrieu Cote Chatillon (MeBalP; 14%; NealRosenthal/MadRose) 2014: Med.gold color; pleasant pear/Viog/low-key some appley/stony/chalky almost Marsanne-like bit simple nose more like a StJoseph than a Condrieu; rather tart/tangy/lean some stony/chalky/mineral apple/pear/Viog rather lean/austere/bit green pleasant enough flavor but just that; long rather stony/chalky bit mineral/steely light pear/Viog some appley/Marsanne-like finish; rather low-key on the Viog and rather stony/appley/Marsanne-like; lacks the richness & lushness and the beautiful aromatics of a good/decent Condrieu; disappointing and near vapid. $49.00 (AmsterdamWine)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. When I was browsing the shelves at Amsterdam Wine (a very/very good, if small, shop on AmsterdamAve on UpperWestSide; I spotted this Condrieu from a producer I'd never tried. The $49 price tag looked suspiciously low for a Condrieu. Then I noted it was a NeilRosenthal import, which made it even more suspiciously low. But thought I'd give it a shot. It was not a bad wine...just disappointing for a Condrieu.
