This wine "the ranch" from Napa was decanted for 1 hour and at first I was underwhelmed. It seemed rather simple of sour cherry and a touch of eucalyptus given its lofty reputation. An hour later the complexity further developed with some menthol and more eucalyptus. The overall balance was fine but I think this wine needs 2-5 more years to really strut its stuff and could age beyond that for another 5+ years.. abv of 14.4%

Interesting. Most 09's are fairly open now, and seem to be evolving on a shorter arc.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
