WTN: Fresh as a glacier, robust as a rock

2016 Cave des Amandiers, Petite Arvine (dry white from Fully/Valais, Switzerland)
Made by the young, highly talented winegrower Alexandre Delétraz who gives a lot of helpful explanations on his website.
Tickling the nose like the skin of white peach, beautiful florality (white flowers).
Powerful on the palate, at the same time highly elegant, great harmony.
The acidity reminding of white grapefruit and limes makes you an addict.
The salty-mineral aromas envelop and dominate the fruit. Fresh as a glacier, robust as a rock.
Appears like grown by alpine nature without any human intervention.
Wow, I just love this. My subjective rating: 95-96/100.
Given its massive substance it should keep well for at least 15 years. However it's soo beautiful right now ..

Cheers, Rainer

Your note makes me want to seek out the wine. I wonder if it gets to the USA. Seems doubtful.

Maybe there is hope. I have placed your question with the producer.

Unfortunately the producer has currently no reseller in the US.

I love the wines from native Valaisan grapes like Petite Arvine and Cornalin and think that they are capable of producing world class wines of marked personality. I bought some very good ones from Denis Mercier a few years ago when holidaying at Crans. Syrah from Valais can be very good too.

Alas I have to go to Switzerland to find good growers and the strength of the Swiss franc is dissuasive.

Despite the strong Swiss franc you can find great whites from Valais even below USD 25 which is very fair from my point of view. Mercier is one of the very best sources.

Oh well.

I get to Europe several times a year. Maybe I can find a bottle.

Rainer my friend, is that the standard PA or the de Fully or les Seilles? How much is it?

Greetings from Sweden / Fredrik L

My dear Fredrik, it is the standard PA @ CHF 22.
Kind regards, Rainer

This sounds great, too bad not available in US. If you search really hard in my market you can usually find a bottle of Swiss Chasselas. I've never seen Petite Arvine from Switzerland here (though we get PA from Valle d'Aoste).
