1998 St. Cosme Gigondas

I was somewhat disappointed in the showing of this wine. This is my first bottle of St. Cosme and I am not familiar with he house style, if there is such a critter. Nice deep red color in the stem,. This is delicate and definitely lighter in style. However, it just doesn't get to the high notes and lacks points of interest. Clipped finish. Not a terrible wine, but not inspiring at all. Perhaps it is one of those weird pases that some Rhones go through?

Well, that's not good. I was planning on opening a bottle of this next weekend, thinking that a '98 Gigondas should be well past the close down, and in prime time. Thanks for the note. Guess I'll go with the Brusset - which never closed down and, a year ago, was wonderful.
