Minervois. Vigneron Gilles Chabbert.
A blend of Syrah (30 per cent), Carignan (30), Grenache (20) and Cinsault (20).

Decanted.

Very dark purple, almost black in the glass.

Earth and leather on the nose, but the nose subsides into nothing with some air time.

A very big wine, smoky, fleshy black cherries, leather, spicy, floral, tarry, with some bitterness and heat toward the end. After a while in the decanter the wine shut down and never opened up again.

Enjoyable but: (1) I am glad I decanted and (2) I won't be in a hurry to open the next bottle.
